Couple with dog {Rochester Minnesota dog family portrait photographer}

It’s no secret, pet portraits, especially dog portraits, have a special place in our hearts and we love capturing pets with their people. Dogs are truly a member of the family and as such, they should be photographed like one.

This is the second time we’ve taken photos of these three. The last time, about 3 years ago, Kevin was just a puppy and it was so, hot and humid that his “Mom” and “Dad” chose to not be in many photos as we were all sweating just standing there. But last fall we got a beautiful Minnesota November afternoon. For their session, they asked us to capture Kevin’s (the dog) personality as well as to take photos of them as a couple and as a family. They spend a lot of time in nature with Kevin, and one of their favorite places to hike with him is at Quarry Hill in Rochester, MN. Such a great spot for a photo session.

We have so much fun with these three. We left with sore cheeks as we were laughing and smiling the entire time we got to hang out with them. They make our job so easy and Kevin is full of personality but also was laid back, very sweet, and a natural for the camera.

Newborn Composite {MN Newborn Composite Photography}

Wonder how photographers get photos of newborns sleeping in a swing hanging from a branch, sitting on a shelf, or holding their head up on a football or some other prop? Or most importantly, how the baby can be safe so high above the ground?

With the magic of newborn composites!

Safety is an absolute priority for any newborn session and with composite photography for newborn photos, the baby’s safety comes first and offers endless creative possibilities. Composites take planning and more editing time but are so worth it.

With all that said, Miss J’s Mom (and one of my best friends) may have been planning this photo since the day she told me she was expecting! I was so excited to edit this photo and make this gorgeous portrait of my friend’s newborn on her husband’s motorcycle. It’s even more special as riding a motorcycle is something they love to do together and I’m sure Miss J will love riding a motorcycle with her Dad as well.

Newborn Boy Portraits {Spring Valley Minnesota Newborn Photographer}

I have been photographing this family since Mom’s senior portraits, so I was so honored to capture another milestone in their life….a newborn session for their newest addition. Mr. M is so cute and napped sweetly for the majority of his time with us. Big sister Miss S was adorable, too, and had the cutest little smile for her pictures. Congratulations to the entire family on your perfect new addition!

Celebrating 90 Years {Stewartville MN Portrait Photographer}

Today my Grandma turns 90! Experiencing life for nine decades means that you have seen and experienced a lot in your lifetime. So many memories. So many good times!

I cannot begin to describe what a wonderful woman my grandmother is, nor how important she is to me and all of my family. I am so blessed to have so many cherished memories of time spent at my grandmother’s side, listening to her tell stories and learning from her incredible example of strength, love, laughter, and joy. She has never been one to take life too seriously – she enjoys each day to its fullest.

To remember this special moment, I did a quick photoshoot for my Grandma. We had such a fun time. Rylee also took a photo of me and my Grandma as well at the end of our photo session.

Happy 90th Birthday, Grandma!

Senior Yard Signs {SE MN Graduation Celebration Photographer}

Let’s celebrate your senior in style with a customized yard sign! We added 5 new designs this year and still have our designs from last year as well.

Signs are available in 18”x24”, 2-sided, printed on 4mm Waterproof corrugated plastic, long-lasting, fade-resistant UV inks, and include a wire stake. They are $25 each or $20 for 2 or 3 or $15 for 4 or more, plus MN and Fillmore County Sales Tax. Orders can be placed here: https://photographybykari.com/store/index.php?do=photocart…

Orders will be taken from now until 5/15/21. They will take 2 weeks to come in and be ready for pick up. Once your order is placed, please email which photo you would like and the information you’d like added to the design you chose, we will put it together and email you the mock-up for approval before sending it off to the lab to be printed.

*If you had your senior photos taken elsewhere and you bought digital files with a print release, we will need permission and a print release from your photographer, otherwise it can also be a personal photo.*
