Family portraits are great for families documenting a point in their lives and capturing family dynamics at any given point, which can change quickly.
A few weeks ago, I had a particularly special shoot, the Siskow family. They had contacted me to get family photos as their patriarch, Wayne. He had been diagnosed with cancer and they wanted family photos before he wasn’t feeling well.
We found a time for that next weekend to go out to their family farm in Ostrander, MN before another extended family session. It wasn’t the most ideal time of day, but I wanted to be sure we were able to capture this moment for them. We ended up with a mix of weather during the shoot, wind, clouds, sun, and rain. Seemed fitting being that they are a farming family and are used to having to work with whatever mother nature gives them.
My heart is heavy this week as I have been informed of Wayne’s passing last week.
I’m honored they chose us to capture these family portraits for them. Photographs and memories are EVERYTHING when they are all you have left. There is no greater subject to photograph than a family. Family is important.
